Share

ACT Networks Inc. has offered to buy data-transmission technology developer SourceCom Inc. of Westlake Village. The deal is valued at about $8 million, said SourceCom President Giorgio Propersi, who said he was pleased with the offer. Last week, the company laid off 60 out of 100 workers and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court protection, listing more than $10.5 million in debts. Privately held SourceCom manufactures a device built into a single computer chip that sorts and routes data over the best available lines in transmission networks. Camarillo-based ACT Networks develops and manufactures network access products for a wide range of voice, data and integrated network uses. ACT shares fell 38 cents to close at $13.38 on Nasdaq.
