Cabot Park Skate Area Considered

Share

The City Council tonight will take its first in-depth look at plans for a skating area in Cabot Park.

The review will give council members a chance to consider details such as where the facility should be built in the park.

The $16,000 skate park would be used by skateboarders and in-line skaters.

Funding has not yet been budgeted.

If council members agree, they will forward the project to the city Parks and Recreation Commission for further consideration.

The skate park would be the second in Laguna Hills. The council has already approved one in the planned Community Center, a $21-million complex that could include sports fields, a gym, meeting rooms and a library. The Community Center skate park is expected to be built in about 18 months.

City consultant Berryman and Henigar of Santa Ana considered two locations for the Cabot Park skating area.

Although the west site would require less grading, the company recommended the east location because it has better access to parking and is farther from neighboring homes.

The meeting will be at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, at 7 p.m.
