The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is hosting a free performance of a fairy-tale takeoff for family audiences called “Little Red and the Hoods” on Saturday.

The community acting group Gypsies in the Trunk will put on the show, which includes lots of laughs and some audience participation, said Doug Gale, recreation supervisor.

Show times for the hourlong play are 4 and 5:30 p.m. at the Bicentennial Arbor Amphitheater at Rancho Simi Community Park, Royal Avenue and Erringer Road.

Donations to support the acting troupe are requested.

Also that evening at 8, a free movie, “The Adventures of Milo and Otis,” will be shown under the stars in the amphitheater. The film, narrated by Dudley Moore, is about the escapades of a cat and dog that befriend each other, Gale said.

The events will be held if the weather permits. For information, call the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District at 584-4400.
