Pat Swilling’s retirement lasted three days.

Swilling, once a linebacker and now a defensive end, returned to the Oakland Raider camp Sunday, three days after he had departed abruptly and told teammates he was retiring.

The Raiders also moved to add depth at the position, signing Greg Townsend, who played in the Pro Bowl while with them in 1991-92 before his career was sidetracked by weight problems.

Swilling, 32, met with Coach Joe Bugel and will accompany the team to Austin, Texas, today for practices with the Dallas Cowboys.

Rick Mirer, who came to the Bears in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks and then signed a three-year, $10.5-million deal, struggled, completing only four of seven passes for 16 yards.
