Times Reporter Wins Planners’ Award

Times staff writer Larry Gordon has won the top journalism award given by the American Planning Assn.’s California chapter.
Gordon was honored for articles he wrote during the last year on subjects that included the proposed demolition of St. Vibiana’s Cathedral, New Urbanism planning in California, the state proposal to refurbish historic downtown buildings as offices and the demise of Rebuild L.A.
Gordon, who previously worked at the Record in Bergen County, N.J., has been a Times reporter for 12 years.
The chapter also gave the Comprehensive Planning Award to Los Angeles for its citywide general plan.
