City Expected to Join El Toro Ballot Appeal

Share

The City Council is expected to vote today to join other South County cities in appealing to the California Supreme Court a 1994 ballot measure that approved the proposed El Toro airport.

If approved, Mission Viejo would be the last South County city to approve an appeal of a June 30 decision by the 4th District Court of Appeal in San Diego upholding Measure A.

The South County cities have until Aug. 8 to decide whether or not to seek a Supreme Court review of the appellate court decision.

The council called a special meeting to consider the appeal since its next regularly scheduled meeting is not until Aug. 18.

Because the issue involves possible litigation, the vote will be taken in closed session.

The 5 p.m. meeting will take place at City Hall, 25909 Pala. Information: (714) 470-3000.
