Carpoolers along the Harbor Freeway near USC zoomed by high above regular traffic lanes Tuesday as the long-awaited Adams Boulevard onramps and offramps opened, marking the end of eight years of construction along the roadway that links downtown with San Pedro.

The four-story-high, 1,500-foot-long reinforced concrete freeway structure, which was built at a cost of $28 million, drops off downtown-bound freeway travelers at Adams Boulevard and Figueroa Street.
