2 Minor Quakes Recorded in Brea
From a Times Staff Writer
BREA —
Two minor earthquakes, measuring 2.7, hit Orange County on Tuesday, seismologists said.
The earthquakes were centered five miles southeast of downtown Brea and occurred at 9:50 a.m. and 1:17 p.m., said Nick Scheckel, a seismologist at Caltech in Pasadena.
The tremors were not aftershocks from a recent quake, Scheckel said.
Police said they had not received any phone calls from residents.
“We didn’t know about it. We didn’t feel it,” said Elaina Bell of the Police Department.
