Woods, Littlerock Stay in Chase

Michael Woods rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns in 20 carries and Littlerock High shut down Lancaster, 21-0, in a Golden League game Saturday at Littlerock.

The Lobos (6-2, 2-1 in league play) kept pace with Antelope Valley (4-3, 2-1) for second place behind Palmdale (6-2, 3-0).

Woods capped consecutive nine-play scoring drives with runs of three and five yards in the second quarter to give Littlerock a 14-0 lead. David Newton added 73 yards in 14 carries for Littlerock.

Sophomore Rodney Woods, Michael’s younger brother, put the game away with a two-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. He rushed six times for 43 yards.

Myles Meeden completed three of four passes for 40 yards with one interception for Littlerock, which can gain a share of the league lead with a victory Friday night at Palmdale.

Daniel Pagnella led Lancaster (3-5, 0-3) with 77 yards in 17 carries.

Eagle kicker Robby LaPlante made a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter, but it was nullified by an illegal-formation penalty. His subsequent 51-yard attempt was blocked.
