Woolworth Corp., which abandoned its traditional five-and-dime stores this summer to focus on athletic gear, said its Foot Locker unit has entered a marketing partnership with Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. Financial terms were not disclosed. The centerpiece of the agreement will be a 40,000-square-foot superstore that Foot Locker will build at Walt Disney World in Florida to sell athletic footwear, apparel and sporting goods. The store, which is expected to open in early 1999, will be in Disney’s 200-acre Wide World of Sports complex at its resort in Orlando. A spokeswoman for Foot Locker, which has more than 2,000 stores, said the arrangement will give the retailer better name recognition among athletes and tourists. New York-based Woolworth’s stock lost 50 cents to close at $19; Disney added 75 cents to close at $86.25. Both trade on the NYSE.
