Women Referees
The reaction by some basketball players to the first female referees in a major U.S. male professional sports league is predictable (Oct. 29). Every male-dominated institution in this country--sports, politics, the armed forces, police and fire departments--has complained about women “not being able to compete or fight, not being strong enough, smart enough, fast enough,” etc.
The real reason men suffering from toxic levels of testosterone resist inclusion of women into their professional ranks is because they think their macho, all-male clubs are diluted and demeaned when “the weaker sex” joins.
