City Unveils New Rules on Adult Businesses

New rules about where and how adult businesses may operate have been approved by the City Council.

An ordinance passed Tuesday requires those businesses to be at least 300 feet from schools, residential areas and parks and at least 100 feet from outlets selling alcoholic beverages.

Adult businesses--A story Thursday misidentified the City Council that adopted new rules on where and how adult businesses may operate. The action was taken in San Juan Capistrano.

It also requires performers and operators to undergo background investigations, which will be updated annually.

A request last year for a permit to open an adult bookstore prompted the city to spend $10,000 preparing the regulations.
