Flood Plans Outlined for College Park East

Share

City officials have contingency plans for College Park East residents worried they will be cut off from their neighborhood by flood waters predicted from El Nino storms.

During a community forum Tuesday, City Engineer Steve Badum told about 100 College Park East residents that the North Seal Beach Community Center on Saint Cloud Drive will be open if Lampson Avenue is closed by rainwater.

Lampson Avenue is the major street in and out of the College Park East neighborhood and has been impassable during previous storms.

Badum told residents to use the community center as a meeting place should families be cut off from their homes.

Sandbags are available at the fire station on 8th Street and Central Avenue, at Leisure World and at Fire Station 48 on Seal Beach Boulevard. Sand is available in the public works yard, 1776 Adolfo Lopez Drive, but can be moved in event of a large storm.
