Two 17-year-old high school students have been arrested in connection with a six-month fire spree that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage at Moorpark High School and surrounding areas, authorities said.

The boys, both Moorpark High School students, are suspected of setting eight fires between April 30 and Nov. 4, said Det. Joe Braga of the Sheriff’s Department’s major crimes unit.

Authorities said the boys, who were not identified because they are juveniles, set several bathroom fires at the school at 4500 Tierra Rejada Road, and also tried to burn down a trailer used to store football equipment. They also are suspected of setting a fire at nearby Arroyo Vista Park.
