Long Beach State 55, Brown 52--David Egans’ 14 points led a balanced offense as the 49ers came from behind to beat Brown in the opening round of the La Festival/Florida International Holiday Classic in Miami.

Brown (2-3) jumped out to a 19-11 lead with 9:05 remaining in the first half, but a jumper by Long Beach State’s Antrone Lee cut the Brown advantage to 29-25 at the intermission.

Long Beach State (2-2) tied the score at 48-48 with 6:21 to play and grabbed its first lead of the game, at 51-50, with 2:01 remaining on a three-pointer by Grant Stone. Four 49er free throws down the stretch secured the victory.

Long Beach plays Florida International (2-1), a 78-63 winner over Lafayette, for the La Festival championship today. Brown meets Lafayette (3-2) in the consolation game.
