The Giants may be down, 1-0, in the series, but they’re not down.

“If you’ve watched the Giants lately, when everybody was picking the Dodgers, do you think this team gives up?” reliever Roberto Hernandez said.

Hernandez gave up the winning hit to Edgar Renteria, an opposite-field liner with the bases loaded and two outs.

“We made a good pitch to Renteria,” catcher Brian Johnson said. “But he got his bat on the ball put a good angle on it and put it in there. No one is cutting their wrists in here. Wednesday we’ll be looking to come out on top.”

San Francisco’s Barry Bonds went one for four with a towering double, but he flied out to end the ninth, leaving his much-publicized career postseason average at .194 (14 for 72).

“That was a great game,” Bonds said. “Someone had to win. We’re still in good shape.”
