Antelope Valley (2-2, 1-1) struck first when Bailey found a hole off right tackle and raced 64 yards down the sideline for a touchdown early in the second quarter.

The tide turned on a freak play later in the quarter that seemed to leave the Marauders in shock.

After a punt by Andy Rethi pinned the Eagles inside their 10-yard line, quarterback Dennis Smith threw deep on third and long. His pass was tipped by defensive back Jerry Jones, caught by receiver Mark Terrell and turned into a 91-yard touchdown that tied the score, 7-7, with 3:10 left in the second quarter.

Quarterback Michael Gleich fumbled on the Marauders’ next possession and linebacker Marquise Benjamin recovered at the Antelope Valley 35. Michael Anderson scored on a 12-yard run seven plays later to give Mt. San Jacinto a 14-7 lead 30 seconds before halftime.

Antelope Valley backup quarterback Justin Holtfreter entered in the fourth quarter and set a school record by throwing four consecutive passes that were intercepted on four consecutive possessions.
