LONE PINE--This city’s place in movie history is celebrated at next weekend’s Lone Pine Film Festival. Tours ($8-$35) take visitors to sites in the Alabama Hills, where shooting for “Gunga Din,” “High Sierra” and other classics took place. Westerns filmed in Lone Pine will be screened in the high school auditorium, at Muir Street and U.S. 395, throughout the festival ($3). SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO--Yarns will be spun at three venues on El Camino Real during the Storytelling Festival. FRESNO--The Big Fresno Fair, through this week, finishes with a flourish at Sunday’s Big Fresno Fiesta. A ballet folklorico group and three mariachi bands, --including the highly regarded Mariachi Sol de Mexico--will perform. 1-9 p.m. at the Paul Paul Theater. The fiesta includes a mercado, with free carnival games and prizes. SAN FRANCISCO--The Great Halloween and Pumpkin Festival scares up some fun on Polk Street with pie-eating and pet-costume contests, crafts vendors and music on three stages.
