NOTES : Robinson Calls Out Officials

Share

Following the Kings’ 3-2 loss at St. Louis on Thursday night, King Coach Larry Robinson fumed about the lack of calls made in the game. St. Louis did not get called for a penalty until 6:15 remained in regulation, but the Blues scored two power-play goals in four opportunities.

“[The officials] are supposed to be calling interference now and it looked to me that there was a lot of hooking and holding,” Robinson said. “[The NHL] better get its act together and find out what is interference and what is not interference. I’m still waiting.

“Some [officials] call it one way, some call it the other. They say that they are going to go back to the old style but tonight it sure didn’t look like it. . . . There was a lot of hooking and holding going on out there.”

The Kings have failed to score first in every game this season, including Brett Hull’s first-period goal for St. Louis. Hull was called for St. Louis’ first penalty when he tripped Luc Robitaille and was called for interference.

“Yeah, and that didn’t come until the third period,” Robinson said.

Only the Kings and Florida have yet to play a home game, but the Panthers have played only two road games compared to the Kings’ five. . . . For the fifth consecutive game, defenseman Jan Vopat was a scratch and he was joined by left wing Vladimir Tsyplakov and defenseman Mattias Norstrom. Center Ray Ferraro (knee) and goaltender Jamie Storr (groin) remain on injured reserve.

Sam McMaster, former King general manager, was hired as a scout for the Carolina Hurricanes.
