Hernandez Leads Santa Ana Valley to a 9-5 Victory

Miguel Hernandez scored four goals to help Santa Ana Valley to a 9-5 victory Saturday over Bellflower St. John Bosco for the championship of the Orange boys’ water polo tournament.

Victor Oregon added three goals for the Falcons, who advanced to the final with an 18-0 victory over Loara. Hernandez, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, had six goals in the semifinal victory.

St. John Bosco moved into the final with a 10-9 victory over Garden Grove.

In the third-place game:

Garden Grove 13, Loara 5--Jeff Colton scored five goals and Matt Reeves scored three for the Argonauts.

In other tournament games:

Western 12, Orange 3--Jace Crispin scored six goals as Western won the fifth-place game.

Canyon 9, El Modena 3--Brian Blagg scored three goals for Canyon in a consolation victory.

In nonleague boys’ games:

Santa Margarita 12, Santa Monica 3--Justin Kroeze scored three goals for Santa Margarita (15-6).

Esperanza 14, Riverside Poly 8--Travis Vayssie scored six goals for the Aztecs. Goalie Lance Onken had six saves for Esperanza (11-4).

Simi Valley Royal 15, Marina 13--Jeff Larson had seven goals and five assists for Marina (11-5).

No. 9 Villa Park 13, El Toro 4--Matt Doerr had nine saves for Villa Park (11-7). Kyle Baumgarner scored five goals.
