Melvin Finklestein; Ventura Businessman

Melvin Finklestein, a former business-machines shop owner, died Monday in a local hospital following a long illness. He was 63.

He was born March 31, 1934, in Detroit and was a 21-year resident of Ventura County.

Finklestein was co-owner of Godley Business Machines in Ventura for 16 years. Following his retirement in 1992, Finklestein helped his friends as a computer consultant.

He was an amateur radio operator and a member of the Camarillo Flying Circus, Beekeepers Assn. of Ventura and the Rare Fruitgrowers of Ventura.

Finklestein is survived by his wife, Joy; sons David Finnell of Wellington, Fla., and Larry of Temecula; daughter Holly Wilson, also of Temecula; brother Howard of Chino Hills; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with Finklestein’s son-in-law, the Rev. Jim Wilson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Assn. of Ventura County, 2500 E. Las Posas Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
