A look at the region’s college basketball teams heading into the start of official practices:

The Trojans, whose first practice is scheduled for Saturday, will open the season in Albuquerque, N.M., against the University of New Mexico on Nov. 11.

Coming off an appearance in the NCAA tournament, the Trojans will be led by guard Elias Ayuso and forward Gary Williams. But the Trojans are rebuilding and will rely heavily on three incoming freshmen--Kevin Augustine from Santa Ana Mater Dei High, Jeff Trepagnier from Compton and Greg Lakey from Lynwood.

On Tuesday, Bibby told reporters that the undersized Trojans, who are without a player over 6 feet 8, will probably be hard-pressed to duplicate last season’s success.
