Bobby Bonilla said his injured left hamstring still hurts, but he expects to play in Game 1.

“It still feels pretty sore, but I’ve done a great deal to get here and I don’t plan on missing any of it,” Bonilla said.

Gary Sheffield is playing in his first World Series, so the Marlin outfielder has sought advice from someone who has done this before--his uncle.

“I talked to Dwight the other day,” said Sheffield, referring to New York Yankee pitcher Dwight Gooden.

“We talked about staying relaxed and how you have to keep your focus. There is so much stuff going on, but he told me you can’t get caught up in it. He told me to just keep doing the things that have helped me get here.”

Gooden earned World Series rings with the Mets in 1986 and the Yankees last season.
