Coliseum Site for NFL Team

Re “‘NFL Refuses to Limit L.A. Team to Coliseum,” Oct. 16:

I quite often attend events at the L.A. Coliseum and am angry at the negative racial remarks that I read about every time an article on the subject appears in The Times. I go to events, picnic in the park, walk by myself to and from my car, and nothing has ever happened to me or my property. Your reporters should go to Exposition Park to see the ongoing improvements being made to make Exposition Park a wonderful place to put a new stadium.

Your article says the site is in a “mainly African American” area of L.A. This is ridiculous and incorrect. The area around the Coliseum is now significantly Hispanic, in addition to African American. If they do not want to build a stadium in such an area, why is the NFL considering the two other areas of L.A. mentioned in every article? The Hollywood Park area is mainly African American, while the Chavez Ravine area is predominantly Hispanic/Asian.

What difference should the racial makeup of the area play in obtaining an NFL team anyway? Putting a team in a new stadium would be wonderful for the city of L.A., and I am sick of racial neighborhood demographics being used as a criterion for team placement.
