Eddie Robinson Out of Hospital

Eddie Robinson, college football’s winningest coach, was released from a Ruston, La., hospital Wednesday and is ready to get back to his Grambling team.

“I can’t stay away from football,” he said.

Robinson, 78, had been admitted for breathing difficulties. He checked in to Lincoln General Hospital early Monday and was placed in the intensive-care unit for observation.

Marshall’s Randy Moss heads the list of 10 semifinalists for the 1997 Fred Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate wide receiver. Moss is joined as a semifinalist by Ohio State’s David Boston, Florida’s Jacquez Green, Clemson’s Tony Horne, Penn State’s Joe Jurevicius, Tennessee’s Marcus Nash, Washington’s Jerome Pathon, California’s Bobby Shaw, Florida State’s Peter Warrick and Louisiana Tech’s Troy Edwards. . . . Maine quarterback Mickey Fein and punt returner Darrick Brown were arrested in separate incidents and suspended from Saturday’s game against New Hampshire. Fein, 21, was arrested for drunk driving, hours after he led the Black Bears in a 62-29 rout of Boston University. Brown, 21, was arrested on charges of assault, disorderly contact and unlawful use of a license after refusing to leave an altercation at a bar.
