After beating Tampa Bay, 4-3, Friday night on Wayne Gretzky’s third-period goal at New York, the Rangers learned they had lost Adam Graves to a knee injury.

Ranger Coach Colin Campbell estimated Graves would be out for three weeks because of a sprained right knee. The left wing will have an MRI exam today.

Gretzky’s goal at 9:17 of the third period capped a three-goal comeback that included a successful penalty shot by Mike Keane late in the second period that tied the score, 3-3.

Carolina 3, Colorado 3--Adam Deadmarsh scored with 16 seconds left in regulation as the Avalanche tied the Hurricanes at Denver to remain unbeaten in six home games.

Colorado goalie Patrick Roy started the play that led to Deadmarsh’s goal, making a save and delivering the puck to Peter Forsberg before leaving the ice for a sixth attacker. After the puck was dumped in the Carolina zone, Forsberg chased it down and got it to Deadmarsh, who lifted it over Sean Burke.

Dallas 2, Chicago 0--Ed Belfour shut out his former teammates for the second time this season, stopping 22 shots in the Stars’ victory at Chicago.

Edmonton 4, Pittsburgh 3--A third-period power-play goal by defenseman Dan McGillis at Edmonton enabled the Oilers to end the Penguins’ six-game unbeaten streak.
