SAN BERNARDINO--Next weekend’s Harvest Fair is an Old West wingding. A boomtown is re-created, including a saloon with swinging doors, a wooden corral and an 1880s chuck wagon. Visitors are encouraged to don Old West duds. There will be live country music, an antique-car show, craft vendors and a chili cook-off (10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday; $1 per tasting ticket). 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at CID building, 8088 Palm Lane. $2, $1 for ages 8-12, 7 and under free. SHOSHONE--Circle the wagons. The western theme continues at Death Valley Fall Festival, next Saturday and Sunday. A parade along California 127 at 9 a.m. Saturday will kick off the street festival. There will be mock shootouts and a hanging, covered-wagon rides ($2 per person), and arts, crafts and food vendors. CARLSBAD--Next Sunday’s Fall Village Faire is billed as the largest one-day street fair in the U.S., with 859 vendors on 24 city blocks. Items for sale will include ceramics, jewelry, clothing, glassware and plants. BRAWLEY--The annual Cattle Call, Nov. 7-9, will feature a bluegrass festival, with bands playing 6-10 p.m. Nov. 7 at Plaza Park on Main Street (free admission); rodeos (2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 8, 2 p.m. Nov. 9, at Cattle Call Arena, on Cattle Call Drive; $5 general admission); and a two-hour parade, with equestrians, bands, floats and more (9:45 a.m. Nov. 8 at Western and Main streets). GRASS VALLEY--The 3,600-square-foot “cottage” at Empire Mine State Historic Park will be decked out in holiday finery for tours Nov. 28 and 29. Volunteers in 1905-vintage garb will show visitors around the place, which served as the mine owners’ summer home at the turn of the century. $3, $1 ages 6-12, 5 and under free.
