Devon White hit a grand slam over the center-field wall and Cliff Floyd hit a three-run homer 458 feet Monday to power the Florida Marlins to a 10-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

A sellout crowd of 42,446 watched the opening game of a three-game interleague series between teams with the best and third-best records in the majors.

The Marlins won their third in a row and improved to 81-55, breaking last year’s team record of 80 victories. Florida is 10-3 in interleague play.

The Orioles have lost three in a row for the first time since July 16-18, but their 85-59 record remains baseball’s best.

Baltimore’s Lenny Webster drove in four runs with his sixth home run, a career high, and his first triple since 1992. He had three hits with a walk and finished a double shy of the cycle.

All three homers in the game came with two outs.

After Shawn Boskie (6-5) loaded the bases in the sixth, Jesse Orosco walked in a run to give Florida a 5-4 lead. One out later, White hit a 447-foot slam for only his second homer this season.

White added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. His five runs batted in tied a career high.

Floyd, activated from the disabled list before the game, homered in the first against Scott Erickson after Gary Sheffield walked and Bobby Bonilla singled.

It was the third homer this season for Floyd, who had been on the disabled list since June 21 because of a hamstring injury.

Felix Heredia (5-2) retired one batter in sixth for the victory. Erickson gave up four hits and four runs in five innings.
