SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A bench warrant was issued Tuesday for former USC and Raider quarterback Todd Marinovich, who failed to show up in court on drug charges for the third time since Aug. 15.

Marinovich, who has pleaded not guilty to the felony charges, was scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing.

A judge in Municipal Court here issued a bench warrant the first time Marinovich missed a court date on Aug. 15. But it was held at the request of his attorney, Gary Pohlson.

The warrant was held again when Marinovich missed a second court date on Aug. 22.

Pohlson could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Marinovich, 27, was arrested March 24 after paramedics and Orange County sheriff’s deputies were called to his Dana Point home to help one of his friends, who was unconscious.

While paramedics treated the friend, deputies found a marijuana plant, a bag of marijuana, a syringe and prescription medicine that was not in Marinovich’s name, authorities said.
