Gang Member Sought in 3 Slayings Surrenders
A Maywood gang member has surrendered in three slayings that a Huntington Park detective called the most vicious and coldblooded killings he has ever investigated, police said Friday.
Daniel Hiriarte, 18, turned himself in at the Huntington Park Police Department late Thursday, police said. Another suspect sought in the killings, Christopher DeHerrera, 21, remains at large.
The killings were committed on April 5, May 31 and July 23. In all three cases, the two suspects allegedly committed “walk-up style murders” in which they targeted what they thought were rival gang members, police said.
DeHerrera, who has a shaved head and goes by the name of “Kunta,” is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has a medium build, authorities said.
