Supervisors Postpone Health Board Decision

Share

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday postponed a decision on whether to appoint Health Care Agency Director Tom Uram to the board of CalOptima, Orange County’s health maintenance organization for Medi-Cal patients.

Uram said in a memo that the Health Care Agency should have a seat on the board because of the “numerous interfaces” between the county and CalOptima. But supervisors said they wanted more time to determine the impact of increasing the board of seven to eight members. Some supervisors said expanding the board too much might make it more difficult to reach consensus on controversial issues.
