Newbury Park 32, Sahuaro (Az.) 28--Nick Czernek used seven different receivers as he passed for 297 yards, completing 17 of 34 for four touchdowns.
Czernek’s final completion, a 22-yard scoring strike to Jake Farrel, came with 2:42 to play and brought the Panthers from behind. It was the eighth lead change of the game.
Newbury Park opened the scoring with a 27-yard scoring pass from Czernek to Paul Sanford, who lead the Panthers with five receptions for 71 yards.
Brian Swett’s 61-yard, one-handed catch and run over the middle came just before halftime and gave Newbury Park a 19-14 advantage.
Fullback Brian Quintero of Sahuaro (0-2) led all rushers with 141 yards in 19 carries, including a 75-yard scoring burst for the first of his two touchdowns.
Reggie Robertson completed 12 of 20 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns with one interception for Sahuaro.
The interception was returned 35 yards for a touchdown by Cause Hanna in the second quarter.
