8-Month-Old Girl Killed by Rottweiler

An 8-month-old girl died after being attacked Saturday by a pet Rottweiler in the living room of her aunt’s home in Lakewood, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The infant, who suffered head injuries, was taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at about 1:15 p.m., said Deputy Angie Prewett.
Investigators were unsure why the animal mauled the baby. The dog was taken to an animal shelter and placed under quarantine pending further investigation.
