Cleanup of Beaches Set for Next Weekend
Enjoyed Ventura County’s beaches this summer? Great, now you can help clean them up.
The 13th annual Coastal Cleanup Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 19 Ventura County locations.
Last year volunteers removed almost 12,000 pounds of trash--ranging from cigarette butts to a car--from beaches, rivers and creeks across the county.
People who wish to help this year should show up wearing gloves, long pants and sturdy shoes. Participants will receive a coupon for a free water filtration system.

* Thousand Oaks: Arroyo Conejo Creek in Borchard Park, 449-SAVE.
* Ventura: San Buenaventura State Beach, Pierpont Beach and Harbor Cove, 652-4555.
* Oxnard: McGrath State Beach, Oxnard Shores, Ormond Beach and 5th Street to Edison Canal, 385-8084.
* Beach communities: Hollywood Beach, Silver Strand, 985-6021.
* Port Hueneme: Port Hueneme Beach Park, 986-6542.
* Santa Paula: Santa Clara River, 933-4213.
* Northern Ventura County coast: La Conchita, Faria and Mondos Cove, Rincon Parkway, Emma Wood Group Campground, Mobil Oil piers and Main Street bridge, 385-8084.
* Southern Ventura County coast: Sycamore Cove, 385-8084.
