Gas Prices

Share

Having just returned from two weeks in Texas, during which we traveled around Houston, Austin and San Antonio, we were struck by the vast difference in gasoline prices. In Texas, we found gas prices from $1.08 to $1.18 per gallon, while locally in California they are $1.38 to $1.48.

The higher cost to us, of 30 cents per gallon, cannot be justified on any rational basis except pure greed. Why are Californians being discriminated against by the oil companies? How about a “class action” suit to recover the extra billions we are paying? At an average auto usage of 700 gallons per year and 20 million cars in California, that 30 cents per gallon is adding over $4 billion per year to oil company profits.
