Meeting Planned on Water, Sewer Services

Share

The Laguna Beach City Council and a local water district will hold a special meeting Tuesday to consider the possibility of annexing water and sewer services at the south end of town.

The South Coast Water District, based in Laguna Beach, is providing such services to residents in that area. But some residents are concerned that proposed mergers in South County could result in a governing body outside Laguna Beach, such as Dana Point, having control over the services. The residents say services to Laguna Beach residents should be delivered by a locally controlled agency.

Council members recently voted to support the Laguna Beach County Water District’s effort to annex the water services into its jurisdiction. City leaders have said they may join with the water district in the annexation and possibly try to take control of sewer services.
