Glendale 13, Burbank 10--Linebacker Steven Smiles stopped running back Reggie Williams for a 19-yard loss at the Glendale 31-yard line on the final play of the game to preserve the victory for the Dynamiters (2-0) at Glendale High.
It was Glendale’s second victory under first-year Coach Pete Smolin, matching the team’s victory total of last season.
After taking a 10-6 lead in the first quarter, Burbank (0-2) stayed in front until Glendale drove 53 yards early in the fourth quarter and scored on a four-yard pass from Carlos Gutierrez to Angelo Walker.
Walker had five receptions for 100 yards, and Gutierrez completed 12 of 22 for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Williams finished with 93 yards in 19 carries.
