To address difficulties facing some older drivers, the American Assn. of Retired Persons has scheduled a mature drivers course Oct. 6 and 7 at the Simi Valley Senior Citizens Center.
The class--”55 Alive Mature Driving Course”--will span eight hours over the two days.
Open to people at least 55, the course is geared to the needs of older motorists. Participants will watch videos and swap personal motoring experiences. And they will receive a Department of Motor Vehicles certificate, which can lead to lower insurance rates, after successfully completing the class, said Kathryn O. Medley, the senior center’s services coordinator.
The course will be held between 1 and 5 p.m. both days. An evening class will be offered between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24. The course costs $8 and fills up fast, Medley said.
The center is at 3900 Avenida Simi. For information or to register, call 583-6363.
