In an effort to find those responsible for the 1995 stabbing death of Christopher Barreto, the Manhattan Beach City Council has offered a $25,000 reward for information about the killing.

Barreto, 25, was attacked by three young men while walking on the Strand near 10th Street in the predawn hours of Oct. 1, 1995. The men asked for money and Barreto, of Culver City, and a woman friend ran away.

The assailants caught them and stabbed Barreto several times. The woman, who was stabbed once, made it to the Manhattan Beach Pier and alerted police. Barreto died at the scene.
