A 35-year-old Thousand Oaks woman was in critical condition at a local hospital Wednesday night after a two-vehicle collision that tied up traffic at Avenida de los Arboles and the Moorpark Freeway offramp during the morning rush hour, authorities said.
Kristine Fearon was in the intensive care unit at Columbia Los Robles Hospital with serious head and abdominal injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Fearon was thrown from her pickup truck after it broadsided a dump truck at the intersection about 8:30 a.m., said Deputy Dan Ambarian of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The dump truck driver, 22-year-old Shannon Richards of Simi Valley, was unharmed, Ambarian said.
The offramp was partly blocked for about three hours after the accident, as were three of Avenida de los Arboles’ four lanes, he said.
Deputies are investigating which driver had the right of way, Ambarian said.
