Stoneman Heads Into Next Round
Surfers took advantage of glassy, near-perfect conditions Thursday at Lower Trestles to score some of the best rides yet in the Body Glove SurfBout X.
Shane Stoneman of San Juan Capistrano recorded the best overall and individual scores in the first round of the men’s main event. Performing in waves from 6 to 8 feet, Stoneman scored 24 points to win his heat and a 9.75 for the top individual score.
San Clemente’s Mike Parsons and Gavin Beschen, brother of world-ranked surfer Shane Beschen, recorded the second- and third-best overall scores of the day.
