The second annual Atwater Village Beautification Day will be held today, with participants planting trees along the boulevards, removing graffiti and cleaning sidewalks and alleys in the neighborhood just north of Griffith Park.

More than 400 people are expected to attend the cleanup, which will focus on Los Feliz and Glendale boulevards, and Brunswick Street between the Golden State Freeway and San Fernando Boulevard, where more than 80 trees are to be planted, organizers said. Participants will receive a free lunch.

“This is a wonderful event,” said Sue Stamper of the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce. “The community is excited about this because everyone is enthusiastic about wanting to make it a better place to live.”
