Guide Aids Students in Reporting Harassment
Teachers can now use a manual designed to help students report harassment.
The La Habra City School District this week approved the manual, which specifies the difference between reporting and tattling and cites examples.
For instance, tattling is “trying to get attention” and reporting is “protecting yourself or someone else,” the manual says.
Common playground and classroom problems also are cited in the manual, and teachers are encouraged to teach their students how to stop harassment and make good decisions.
Trustees praised the manual, which was created and written by district mentor teachers, for its clarity. They said it will be made available to parents.
