Cienfuegos, Campos Skip Playoff Game

Goalkeeper Jorge Campos and midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos will miss the Galaxy’s playoff opener Oct. 5 to play in the Mexico-El Salvador World Cup qualifier the same day.
The Galaxy (15-16) will face the Dallas Burn (16-16) in the Western Conference semifinals. The site of the best-of-three series will be determined by the outcome of Sunday’s Galaxy-Kansas City match.
A Los Angeles victory will put the Galaxy in second place with home-field advantage. A loss will put the Galaxy in third and force it to open the playoffs at Dallas.
Campos’ availability for the remainder of the series will be determined by Mexico’s national soccer federation. Mexico will face Canada in a World Cup qualifier Oct. 12. If Campos is recalled for that match, he would join the Mexican national team Oct. 7.
Campos’ absence might mean goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, who has not played since Aug. 17, will start against the Wizards.
