Let Saigons Be Saigons in Scenic Vietnam
Experience the scenery, culture, cuisine and history of Vietnam on a tour from Feb. 16 to 25. Bible Countries
A pilgrimage to biblical sites in Israel and Jordan runs Jan. 12 to 21. The group will cross the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum; follow along the Dead Sea to Masada, the Jewish fortress high above the ruins of Roman encampments; see the site of the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found; visit Bethlehem, Bethany and the Mount of Olives; and head to Jerusalem to see the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Western Wall and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Christmas in Salzburg
Spend the holidays having an old-fashioned Christmas in Salzburg, Austria, and Munich, Germany. Guests will spend five nights at the Hotel Schloss Fuschl just outside Salzburg and then five nights at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in the center of Munich. The tour runs Dec. 22 to Jan. 2. ‘Soul Fest’ in Mexico
A tour designed to bring out your creativity will take place in Mexico’s colonial city of San Miguel de Allende from Jan. 9 to 18.
An American artist and a British actress and author will lead the trip. Experts will give workshops such as painting, clay sculpture, photography, writing, Aztec art and Mexican metal work, and crystals and stones. Guests also have time to tour the city and go shopping. Skiing the Alps
Carlucci’s Italy is offering three ski vacations, which include the best of the Italian Alps: The Dolomites, Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
The first trip is to Cortina D’Ampezzo in the Dolomites and Venice, Jan. 14 to 24. Participants will spend the first two nights in Venice and have a full day to explore this historic city from the Rialto Bridge to the Doge’s Palace. The six-day Dolomite ski pass covers 683 miles of ski runs and 464 lift facilities. Cost: $1,349.
The second trip is to Courmayeur, Italy, and Mont Blanc on the border of Italy and France, Jan. 24 to Feb. 1. Courmayeur is Italy with a French flavor. On the Italian side of Mont Blanc, it is a charming, historic village with cobblestone streets and plenty of shops and restaurants. Participants can ski Pila near Aosta and Chamonix, France, as well as other nearby resorts. Cost: $1,329.
A ski trip to Cervinia and the Matterhorn runs Jan. 30 to Feb. 7. Cervinia, located on the Italian side of the Matterhorn, offers long leisurely trails and is close to Zermatt, Switzerland. Cost: $1,399.

Baja’s Whales
It won’t be long before Pacific gray whales congregate in Baja California’s San Ignacio Lagoon to mate and give birth. Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s naturalists will lead a whale-encounter cruise Feb. 25 to March 5. This is an access-controlled lagoon, where mother and calf pairs swim within arm’s length of the skiffs.
The nine-day excursion also includes landings on San Benito, Cedros and San Martin, allowing participants to investigate diverse geological formations and native vegetation.
Guests may also see elephant seals, sea lions, nesting osprey, and sea- and shorebirds. Participants stay aboard the 105-foot Royal Polaris out of San Diego. The crew cooks all the meals and the vessel’s accommodations include clean cabins and a roomy, book-stocked combination galley and lounge.
CMA naturalists will lead shipboard slide lectures.

Focus on Santa Fe
The Santa Fe Photo Safari Co. is offering a photography workshop tour to Santa Fe Nov. 12 to 16. The tour, open to photographers of any level, is led by artist-photographer Marcia Reifman and tour director Philip Friedman. Guests will tour sacred sites, including churches, Indian ruins and petroglyphs. An afternoon is spent at the Ojo Caliente Hot Springs.
