Storm Expected to Move Into Area Today

Forecasters expect another storm system to move through Southern California today.

“An approaching cold front will slide down the Pacific Northwest and should reach the Los Angeles area by Monday afternoon at the earliest,” said Wes Etheredge, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information for The Times.

In the Valley, patchy low clouds, fog and morning lows ranging from the upper 40s to low 50s will give way to increasing clouds, showers and wind speeds between 10 and 15 mph by this afternoon, Etheredge said. Today’s afternoon highs are expected to be in the low to mid-60s.

Afternoon highs today are expected to reach 65 in Woodland Hills and Van Nuys, and 64 in Chatsworth and Burbank.

Etheredge said the rain is expected to continue through the evening and into Tuesday morning.

Variable cloudy skies with periods of sunshine is expected for Tuesday with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Morning lows Tuesday are expected to be in the low to mid-50s.

“Once that cold front makes its way through Southern California, it should be nice for the rest of the week,” Etheredge said.

An area of high pressure is expected to build on Wednesday, bringing sunshine and a few high clouds. Early morning temperatures Wednesday should be cooler, ranging from the middle to upper 40s. Wednesday’s afternoon highs are expected to be in the mid-60s.

Mostly sunny skies, patchy low clouds and slightly warmer temperatures are expected for Thursday, with highs in the middle to upper 60s. Thursday’s morning lows are expected to be in the low 50s.

For Friday, sunny skies and afternoon temperatures in the low 70s are expected throughout the Valley. The forecast morning lows for Friday range from the low to mid-50s.
