The search continued Monday for two armed robbers who fled a furniture store after the owner killed two of their juvenile accomplices and wounded a third, police said.

The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday at 5221 W. Adams Blvd., said Los Angeles Police Lt. Anthony Alba. The two dead suspects were found about 9 p.m. after a SWAT team was deployed because it was unclear whether other suspects might be holed up inside the store, Alba said.

A third juvenile suspect was shot in the jaw and chest and taken to UCLA Medical Center, authorities said. He was listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery Sunday.

Store owner Victor Martinez, 50, of Los Angeles, was not expected to be charged in the shootings. But Alba said the case would be presented to the district attorney, as is routinely done when someone is shot to death.

“At this time, Martinez is the victim of an attempted robbery,” Alba said.

A neighboring shop owner welcomed the news.

“I heard he nailed a couple of them, and I thought, ‘Good for him,’ ” said the man who asked to remain anonymous. “You live by the sword, you die by the sword.”
