Four of the short documentaries in Beverly Shaffer’s “Children of Jerusalem” series will screen consecutively at the Skirball Cultural Center. Each film is narrated by either a Jewish or Muslim child who lives in the Holy City. The screening is part of the larger “50 Years of Friendship: America & Israel” program, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Israel. (Story, Page 17.)

All day: Art

Meet more than 100 artists and see the work of painters, sculptors, photographers, designers and performers at the two-day Brewery Spring Art Walk, which ends on Sunday. The historic 21-building complex, formerly the Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery, is now home to hundreds of artists who will open their studios to the public.

Noon: Family

Bring your own kite or create an instant one from the bamboo sticks, string and rice paper provided by the city of Manhattan Beach to catch the wind and fun during the city’s Kite Flying Festival. Recreation service manager Idris Al-Oboudi, a native of Baghdad, where kite making is an art, and his staff will be on hand with lessons in kite making. Prizes will be given for the most colorful and creative ones.

Avner Biron brings his touring Israel Camerata Jerusalem Orchestra to the Luckman Fine Arts Complex at Cal State Los Angeles in a program honoring the 50th anniversary of the State of Israel. Biron & Co. introduce Mark Kopytman’s “Behind All This . . . ,” commissioned for this tour; Alexander Korsantiya is soloist in Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The program opens and closes with symphonies by Haydn and Mozart.

8 pm: R&B; Music

Drummer and bandleader Norman Connors, Temptations vocalist Ali-Olie Woodson and others bring touches of rhythm and soul to the intimate cabaret setting of the Cinegrill when the blues and beat revue “Hollywood Connections” gets down on the Boulevard.

8:15 pm: Pop Music

“Hey You! Don’t Watch That! Watch This!” That was the imposing command signaling the arrival of Madness at the turn of the ‘80s, and now the current ska revival has stirred these English progenitors back to life. All the original members are on hand for their first U.S. tour in 15 years, which pulls into the Universal Amphitheatre tonight.
