Before Recall, Cruz Was in Control

Former JetHawk outfielder Jose Cruz Jr. was chosen the International League’s player of the week for July 20-26.

Cruz batted .440 (11 for 25) with three home runs and seven runs batted in for Syracuse, the Toronto Blue Jays’ triple-A affiliate. He was recalled by the Blue Jays on Thursday and homered on Saturday.

Bob Ayrault (Moorpark College) was released Tuesday by the Western Warriors of the Western Baseball League.

Darrell Hussman (Quartz Hill High), fourth-round selection of the Cincinnati Reds in June, is scheduled to make his professional debut Tuesday, when he pitches for the Billings Mustangs against the Great Falls Dodgers in a Pioneer League game.
