Turner Tosses Two-Hitter for Conejo Valley
Dave Turner pitched a two-hitter for Conejo Valley in a 4-0 first-round victory over Oahu, Hawaii, Saturday in the 17- and 18-year-old division of the Big League Western Regional at Sacramento.
Turner struck out nine and walked one, allowing only four baserunners.
Mike Falco drove in two runs with a triple and a double for Conejo Valley (17-1), and Kevin Howard and Danny Greene each doubled and singled.
WRESTLING
Olivia Ocampo of Oxnard split her matches in the first day of competition at the junior women’s World Championships in Fredrikstad, Norway.
Ocampo lost a 6-0 decision in her first match, but rebounded in her second match to pin her opponent in less than two minutes.
AUTO RACING
Ron Hornaday of Palmdale moved into the lead in the battle for his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck series championship by 27 points by finishing second to Terry Cook in the Stevens Beil 200 at Flemington Speedway in New Jersey.
